GCr15 bearing steel is a kind of high carbon chromium bearing steel with less alloy content, good performance and the most widely used. After quenching and tempering, it has high and uniform hardness (higher hardness, uniform structure), good wear resistance, and high contact fatigue performance. The steel has medium cold working plasticity, general cutting performance, poor welding performance, high sensitivity to the formation of white spots, and temper brittleness. GCr15 bearing steel, containing C0.95-1.05, Mn0.25-0.45, Si0.15-0.35, S≤0.025, P≤0.025, Cr 1.40-1.65, Mo≤0.10, Ni≤0.30, Cu≤0.25, Ni+ Cu≤0.50.
From the perspective of application categories, steel balls can be divided into two categories: wear-resistant steel balls in the crushing industry and bearing steel balls in the precision bearing industry.
Bearing steel balls have a long history of use in the precision bearing industry and life, and they are more widely used. Solid Chrome Steel Balls
Modern furnaces with precisely controlled atmospheres and temperatures are used for heat treating to assure uniform hardness and proper microstructure for each steel ball.
Ball hardness is controlled within the 60-63 HRC range as measured on parallel flat surfaces.
Bearing balls are used in automotive applications, for semi-precision bearings, and in commercial applications.
